I am a current high school junior and I am looking to apply to USC (University of Southern California) next year, but my grades are rather poor. I’m wondering if I even have a shot at getting into Annenberg for Public Relations (Music Industry and Communications as second and third choices).

TOTAL GPA: 3.80 (weighted), 3.51 (non-weighted)
Academic GPA for grades 10-12 so far: 3.64 (weighted), 3.27 (non-weighted)
(note: second semester of junior year has not been calculated into the GPAs)

AP Scores:
Human Geography - 4
European History - 3
Language and Composition - 5
Psychology - 5
US History - 4

Extra-Curriculars: Operation Smile Club (president), Junior State of America debate club (publicist), Youth for Change Club (president), Orchestra, Journalism/Newspaper (front-page News Editor), Guitar, campus literary magazine (Editor-in-Chief)

SAT I: 2070

PSAT score: 208; entered into National Merit Scholar competition (Commended Scholar)

100+ volunteer hours

I plan on majoring in Film and Media Studies.

Working against me is the fact that I am Asian.

How hard is it to get into the Film/Media Studies program? And what extra-curriculars would you reccomend that I undertake next year in order to bulk up my resume?

If anyone has any other info about the Film/Media studies program (difficulty/workload, quality, etc.), I’d love to hear about it.

Thanks very much!
