I have a low gpa, 3.33 unweighted and 4.22 weighted, and this junior year i am hoping to raise it to around a 3.4 unweighted. I have taken the hardest possible classes throughout highschool, all honors and AP Art History, Chemistry, and Physics at a very academically rigorous private high school. Since before freshman year there was an ongoing horrible divorce going on in my family and in spring of my freshman year my mom was diagnosed with cancer, a fight she lost this summer going into my junior year. My question is if I can explain a low gpa on my application, due to outstanding family circumstances, and couple it with a high ACT/SAT Score (29 first time around with no preparation, hoping for a 32-33, and havent taken the SAT yet) will I have a fighting chance at being accepted to NYU College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) or even the Stern School of Buisness.
