chances of getting into penn state?

-3.5 GPA
-5 AP’s (English 2x, History 2x, Economics)
-Varsity Golf Team all 4 years (Played every match and we made it to states my sophomore through senior years)
-Highly competitive HS in northern Virginia (ranked 120 something in the U.S.)
-Sports editor for award-winning newspaper junior year, news editor senior year.
-2000 on new SATs
-My dad owns property in PA so I would get instate tuition also

Thanks in advance.

i want to major in journalism, does penn state have a good journalism school?

“Owning property” won’t get you instate tuition. They have pretty specific residency classification rules.

PSU has a top ranked newspaper so The Journalism is likely good.

To get instate tuition you have to be able to claim residence in Penn. And to do this your mail has to have been sent to this address for atleast one year prior.

what school in northern va? i’m from chantilly…i think you have a pretty good chance by the way

If your high school and residence are in another state you can’t get in state tuition regardless of owning property. Otherwise many would try and get around it by renting apartments, etc. in state. It doesn’t work that way. Your HS GC knows where you really live.
