Chances of Getting into SDSU? Astronomy Major?

Hi, I’m a senior with a 3.4 Cumulative GPA. I received a 29 on the ACT. What are my chances of getting into SDSU as an Astronomy major? Does anyone know if the Astronomy major is difficult to get in to? I just sent in my application, and this is my dream school, so I’d just like to know what my chances are. :-c

Unless you are local, you probably don’t stand much of a chance. Your stats are light.

First calculate your CSU GPA: <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>https://secure.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/gpa_calculator.asp</a></p>

Then calculate your eligibility index (EI): (CSU GPA x200) + (ACT Composite x10). If your EI is around 950+ you should have a decent chance for acceptance.

According to chart below, only 139 applicants applied for Astronomy and 36 accepted which is approximately a 25% acceptance rate. Just remember every major at SDSU including undeclared is impacted and with 77,000 applicants last year, competition is fierce.
