Chances of getting into the NYU/Cornell/Columbia graduate programs?

I’m not applying for a couple years, but since I’m aiming for great grad programs I’m planning now.

Female, 18, African-American
Undergraduate Program: St. Mary’s College of Maryland
Majors: French and English
Prospective Program: Creative Writing
Expected GPA by Graduation: 3.7
Have professors who can give me stellar recommendations from rigorous courses
Currently taking 200- and 300-level courses as a freshman in college

You are 18 and have just finished your first semester in college. You can’t get chances on graduate schools on an online forum even with a full complement of information, much less an “expected GPA” based upon one semester of attendance.

I know it’s really tempting to try to plan your entire life out right now, but resist the urge - really. I thought I was going to go to law school when I was a freshman in college and I’m finishing up my PhD in a different field that’s unrelated to law. You may change your major, or decide not to go to school for creative writing at all, or decide that you’d rather work for a few years and never go to graduate school, or find your passion somewhere else.
