Chances of Getting into UT? Business/Engineering?

I am currently a High School Senior graduating from LASA- Austin’s magnet school and the number 1 high school in all of central Texas. It also was ranked 21st in the entire nation. LASA is a extremely tough and competitive as it picks a selective group of students from the start. I can do much better at other schools in town, but I like to go here for the challenging aspects.

I have a 4.4 GPA, I’m in the top 8%, my SAT score range is 1850-1900, and I’m on organizations like Student Council, NHS, Sports Team, a few clubs.

I have taken lots of tough classes like BC calculus, Statistics, Physics B, Biotechnology, and other APs. I have about 28-30 college credit hours through ACC, and then I am eligible for more through my good AP Scores (4s and 5s). I also am currently doing a Network/Security class which will allow me to get a CISCO CCNA certification next year.

I’ve worked hard, earned good grades, answered all challenged, hard classes, ACC, awards and honors, and I went to a really challenging school.

I could transfer to some other school and get into a high rank, but what are my chances with my current stats?

I appreciate any feedback you can give me. Thanks.

I really don’t think your schools reputation will be all that important in the decisions process

Your SAT scores definitely need improvement. Aim for a 2000+ to be more competitive in the McCombs/Cockrell pool.

I was admitted to the Cockrell School of Engineering and I didn’t have all of the things you have. I only took 1 year of physics, I only got to Calc AB when I was a senior, didn’t have any college credit, I was top 7%, SAT score of 1660 (pathetic), I don’t remember my GPA, I did like two clubs, and my school was not even an average school. I am going to guess that I am one of the worst students to make it in this school though. I’m also white which didn’t help. I have heard the School of Business is harder to get into than the Engineering school so I dunno about that one.
