Hello I’m a senior striving to get into UT engineering. I’ve already been accepted into A&M’s engineering program but I really want the option to choose between the two schools, and I also am favoring UT more right now.
Admissions opened August 1st for both. Applied August 4th to A&M and havent applied to UT yet.
1890 on sat (620CR 730M 540W)
Multiple AP Classes, all A’s on all math courses and some A’s and B’s in Sciences.
Never had a C in a course, was in Band from 6th to 11th and multiple sports(football, golf, and swimming)
4.87 scaled gpa on a 6.0 scale. rank 66 of 525 Top 12.57%
If this isnt enough info just tell me. Any advice would be great, dont beat around the bush if its not good news. Personal experience/people you know thats similar to this?? Thank you!
I think it is almost impossible if you are not top 8%. They have so many kids applying that there are just simply not enough spaces. I cannot believe I am having to say this as you have good grades etc. But, I would definitely put your housing deposit down for A&M If you hear back from UT, it will be in Feb. or March.
It’s that hopeless? They fill up 75% with automatics and the rest were holistic. I have good extracurriculars and things like internships and NASA partnesrships with engineering classes to put in a holistic admission.
Admissions is a lot more competitive outside of the auto admits unfortunately. You’re competing against OOS students, many of whom have 2000+ SATs. Is there any way you can retake?
Im signed up for an sat in october but i didnt plan on taking it, would those scores be too late for applying? I know the sooner the better, so if I wait too long and get a better score, I might be in the same spot for applying with a lower score right now, and thats “if” I get a higher score
