So I got waitlisted at Deerfield, which is my number one choice. I was accepted to Loomis and Miss Porters, but I don’t like Loomis and Miss Porter’s is a pretty long drive (I’d be a day student at all the schools). What is the probability that a 9th grade female day student would be taken off the waitlist?

Not very high, Loomis is a great school though, you should look into it.

I don’t know what the chances are for a day student. I’d call Deerfield and ask - they’ll give you an honest answer.

You should also find out how welcome day students are to sleep over at Miss Porter’s - in the event of inclement weather, a late evening activity, or a late night at the school library. Some schools don’t permit it at all, while others are quite open to day students bunking with a boarding student whenever they need to.

What was the point of applying to Loomis if you don’t like it and you’re not willing to go?

@GMTplus7 I did the interview and tour after I finished all the essays and stuff, and found out that it wasn’t my favorite pretty late into the process. My parents also really liked the school.

hey i would recommend doing a revisit day at Loomis and Porters even if they weren’t your top choices. I was also waitlisted at Deerfield (my top choice, wasn’t accepted off of it) and was extremely hesitant about attending Loomis. I have grown to absolutely LOVE the school though and am really happy i ended up here over Deerfield. PM me if you have any questions at all about the school!
