I am currently completing my sophomore year at Penn state univ berks campus and I want to transfer out to either a csu school or uc after I complete my second year.
As of now my gpa is a 2.87 but I plan to have that at a 3.0 after next semester. I never failed a class in college. Only have one withdraw on a class I was bound to fail and it isn’t anything to do with my intended major.
I plan to major in one of three possibilities.
History, graphic design, or engineering tech.
Ultimately I would love to know what my chances are of transfering into the various California schools.
With a transfer GPA of around 3.0, UC Merced and UC Riverside would probably be your only UC options. For CSU’s, most CSU’s would be possible with the exception of Cal Poly SLO, San Diego State and Cal State Long Beach. As an OOS transfer, you will be given the lowest priority as a transfer. Can you afford the cost of the CSU’s ($36K/year) or the UC’s ($55K/year)? No financial aid will be available as an OOS transfer.
Impacted majors will have higher requirements so you need to check on each schools website to see if you qualify.
Here is a matrix of the impacted campuses/majors for the CSU’s.
