Chances of UF, FSU, UCLA

<p>I’m a sophmore, class of '09. My freshman year really screwed me up, I had a 2.8 GPA, I was very lazy and didn’t put in any effort. However, this year, I made all A’s and B’s and my finally grades are 4 A’s and 2 B’s. If they notice that I had an off-year my freshman year will this greatly take away from my chances at good colleges?</p>

<p>I go to a very competitive high school that is ranked very high nationally. I am in the business program of my school, and taking accounting classes (basically the smart classes of the business program). </p>

<p>By graduation, my gpa should be around 3.5/4.4 on a 6 point scale. </p>

<p>GPA: 3.2 UW, 3.9 W</p>

<p>PSAT: 1490</p>

<p>AP classes I plan to take, will most like get A’s or B’s
US History
Biology
English Language
Macro econ
Micro econ
Government</p>

<p>ECs by junior year:
FBLA
Business Honors Society
3 Years Varsity Baseball (which equal about 400 community service hours)
Kids2kids charity show
I will get an internship at Merril Lynch
Worked for a smoothie place for a summer</p>

<p>What are my chances for:
FSU (my top choice, will either major in accounting or finance)
University of Florida
UCLA
University of South Carolina
Rice
UC- Santa Barbara
University of Central Florida
University of Texas</p>

<p>if u can keep up with the grades your getting this year id say you have a chance at all- rice and UCLA and prob florida are of the harder- rice and ucla would be reaches but not far reaches</p>

<p>but u cant say varsity baseball= community service hours they are just not the same- i love baseball and play it too but dont think that means community service hours</p>

<p>If you count up your hours and have your parents sign off on them, they count as comm service hours since they are after 3pm. I’m not sure if a lot of schools do it, but mine does.</p>

<p>I think you have a good chance at FSU or UF. I can’t say anything about the others because I’m not familiar with them, but I’d say you have a great chance of getting into FSU, your top choice. I admire the way you turned yourself around after a very rough freshman year, and I’m sure that colleges will feel the same way. Good luck!</p>

<p>FSU will look for quality course work, grades then scores. Your early grades will not matter much as long as the latter are good. APs are important - they show you can work at a much higher level.</p>
