Any suggestions for safety schools in the midwest (Ohio, Ind, Ill, Penn, KY, MO, etc.)? Looking for biology, undergrad research, not one of the big state schools and I’m looking for GOOD MERIT scholarships. I’m really looking for a smaller college (less than 10,000).

It is hard to recommend a college based on the criteria that you have listed. The best undergrad research in the midwest is probably going to be at a big state school. Marquette is too big. Is Northwestern too big? But, it isn’t a safety. U Chicago might be a good choice, but I don’t like UChicago. You would pay too much without getting the college experience, and I don’t think it would be a safety for you. Closer to a match.

Yale is a reach like everyone else, but you definately have a shot. Wash U and Carnegie mellon are good schools for you to apply to, probably in the match to match/reach range.

any other school suggestions?
