I want to major in Criminology. Is it a good idea to declare my major?

What are some other schools with Criminology/Forensics that I should consider?

I was also wondering about info for early admissions?

Any tips for the essay?

Thank You!

uci - slight safety
ucsd - match/slight reach
ucla/cal - big reach (because of grades and somewhat the SAT1)
any other uc’s are safeties.

Good to see improvement between soph/jr year.

I’d say declare your major. The ROP class shows that you are really interested in criminology/forensics.

And i have no idea about other schools with crim/forensics but i just chanced you for UC’s.

I received a D in freshman year and had to retake the course. However, since it was in freshman year, will it affect my chances?

It might affect your chances, but as for me it did not. I received a D in one of my classes during my freshman year as well (and I didn’t even retake the course) yet got accepted into uci. :]

freshman year shouldn’t count towards admissions and it’s good that you retook the course. You shouldn’t worry about that.

ok thats good. but what were your other stats, like GPA and SAT?

you should be good for the SAT because you scored higher than the average for UCI. Most people can get in with around a 1900 and you got over 2000. GPA wise, your weighted GPA should be 3.73 which is good also. You should be a very good match or close safety for UCI. Very good chance to get in.
