chances?? please answer

Ok I have all my requirements set, I have taken all the classes I need to take.

My SAT scores: 660 math, 540 CR, 560 writing

I have run cross country for 3 years and am now the captain of the team.

I have a little bit over 100 hours of community service.

However my problem is my GPA. my weighted is 3.48, unweighted is 2.75. ya im pretty ashamed of my unweighted.

I do plan on retaking my SAT in october, and then sending UT my improved SAT score. however as of right now how are my chances looking, and if my chances are low, what type of SAT score should i plan on getting to be accepted into UT

For that GPA it seems the SAT is much too low. When looking at the average SAT for the school, you have to remember that a lot of the lower end of those scores were students who were in the top 10% so their SAT's were irrelevant.

I'm assuming you are not in the Top 8% because of that GPA. I remember seeing the average SAT score for admitted students not in the top 10% as a 1910 and the average for top 10% being lower. I might have been looking at something only regarding McCombs and not the university at large.

My school doesn't do GPA or class rank but UT is huge on both of them, specifically class rank. I don't have a GPA so I don't know what kind of GPA is needed but I believe it is much higher than the one you have.

If you're a Texas resident you can always do CAP. I think it would suck to have to spend your freshman year in El Paso or San Antonio but its really nice to have the second chance to prove yourself if you didn't do as well as you could in high school.

What is your class rank?

If you are a student in TX, look at your rank first. Not in top 10%? Your chances are dismal
