<p>Extracurriculars:</p>

<p>Varsity Rowing Team- 5 seasons (4 varsity), MVP soph year, also coached (unpaid) twenty “at-risk” girls who had never rowed before, additionally taught (unpaid) rowing and ecology to another group of middle schoolers, overall I’ve put in over 800 hours into my rowing club
Wind Ensemble / Marching Band- clarinetist, numerous awards, squad leader
Varsity Ice Hockey Team – 2 seasons (both varsity), led effort to create a team at my high school
Also did substantial volunteer work for my local library, did research for a local environmental organization, and earned a very high honor as a Girl Scout</p>

<p>Your chances are not good for everything except Bucknell (which I don’t know enough about to evaluate). </p>

<p>Look for some less selective schools.</p>

<p>I don’t think your chances are that bad. It is true that your academics are sub-par for all of those schools, but that doesn’t mean everything. It will be important for you to explain your ECs in your essays (like how you helped create a hockey team at school). Good luck</p>

<p>Most of the schools you have listed are high reaches. Your GPA and standardized testing scores are not up to par with those of most admitted applicants.</p>

<p>I have my other schools already figured out (SUNY ESF, UConn, UVM, F&M)… I just didn’t know about those schools. I was just looking at the average ACT scores of many applicants for these schools (most noteably Colby, Barnard and Bucknell) and I fall in the range of their accepted applicants. Doesn’t that count for something? </p>

<p>Also, Colby and Cornell both definitely superscore the ACT- I’ve asked them.</p>

<p>Additionally, the average GPA at my school of accepted applicants to schools like Colby and Bucknell is a 3.6 and a 3.7ish to places like Cornell and UChicago.</p>

<p>Nice EC’s – ice hockey initiator especially good. U Chicago will be a stretch, even with a superscored ACT (though I’m not sure about their policy regarding this). They dropped their acceptance rate in the latest cycle by a lot (they had a 42% jump in applicants) and they are big on GPA. Sounds like you had a rigorous schedule so far though – keep up the good work!</p>

<p>Definitely apply early to Cornell if it’s your top choice! I think the hockey would help you most there!</p>

<p>Might look at Holy Cross and Colgate-both similar to Bucknell.</p>

<p>You’re probably good for Colby. I’d say it’s a match. None of this “it’s a high reach” business.</p>
