GREAT recommendations. I work for a Congressman who will write me a recommendation. My teacher also promised me he would write me his most glowing recommendation ever. He personally volunteered to meet with the adcom or call him to persuade him.

Thanks a lot.

1st off you EC’s are not that good.

your satis in the range which is good. The adcom may think the the congressman rec. will be pointless becuase they ,ay thinl you dont know him at all.

Do you like Carnegie Mellon?

overallychances 4%

honestly, it’s anyone’s game. You’re fine Carnegie, just make sure you have good essays - they count alot because presentation counts alot. (at least that was my experience with the whole thing)

thats fuuny…the congressman persuading the adcom

“My teacher also promised me he would write me his most glowing recommendation ever. He personally volunteered to meet with the adcom or call him to persuade him.”

I’m pretty sure that says that his teacher would call the adcom, but I dunno, this SAT studying for the writing section might not be paying off.

So in your opinion I have a good shot?

I would say look into other schools. But apply if you want.

NYU, Berkeley, Michigan, UT-Austin would be good to consider.

I concur on that Whartonorbust.

How does Stern compare to Wharton in terms of admission toughness and do I have a shot at Stern?

Entrance Difficulty: Most difficult //same as Penn

SAT Scores of Enrolled Freshmen

610-700 range of middle 50%

Score of 700 - 800 32%
Score of 600 - 700 50%
Score of 500 - 600 17%
Score of 400 - 500 1%

That is just for the school. Stern is harder

Overall you would have way better chances Stern ED in my opinion.

“4%”

Hahaha. You gotta be kidding me. You’re the kid who isn’t into the school yet, trying to convince people to not apply to Wharton right? And your whole analysis is way off IMO. How are his ECs way off? Why, cuz they aren’t listed in a manner that takes up 20 lines? I don’t know, but Varsity Tennis and his own films that have won him national awards sounds pretty cool to me. What else should he do? If anything is lacking it could be the otherside. 10 APs sounds good- is this by junior year, or senior year also? If the former, outstanding, if latter, then you’re on spot. Not sure how good your grades are though… And SATs are competitive average.

Basically, like I have said to many others, you are in the ballpark and have as good a chance as the next guy. Make sure your essays are passionate, and the Recs sound personal (especially if you get one from the Congressman. You don’t want the guys at Penn to think it’s a bs rec from a guy that doesn’t really know you). Contact the admission rep ,resumes, bla bla. Good luck.

O, and btw, I believe someone123 and I are the only ones who have successfully made it through the college admissions process (Penn specifically) on this thread. Not sure about Guguru. The others are entitled to their opinions of course. Just don’t let anyone get you down- I hate that. But if you come on the internet, you gotta be ready for that stuff… But anyways, if you really want it, go for it.

I say go for Wharton! Your stats are definitely competitive. Your ecs, though they don’t number in the tens of millions like some on this thread would like, are still fine. National film awards are good. I don’t know who said to go to Stern, but I think you should definitely try for Wharton. ED is definitely going to help you. Good luck! I hope I see you in Philly!

he asked the stern stats…

but go for wharton…I am too… :)

Ur stats look pretty good tho 2180 SAT score and being asian. Not exactly the greatest chances. And assuming ur GPA is weighted? That’s not great neither. But that rec from ur Congressmen, that WILL help tons. As for ur extracurriculars, if they are not those cliche ones that everyone puts down on their app, i think u got a pretty good chance. but it is wharton so who knows…
like everyone else been saying. u’ll defintely get in Stern and carnegie

Thanks a ton guys
