UW GPA: 4.0
Rank: 2/280
Courseload: Most rigorous at school. will finish with 12 APs

ACT: 30 (i think i can bring it up to at least 31-32)

ECs: XC, Spring Track, VP of BPA, VP of MUN, NHS, Tutored Cousins for 100+ hours. Summer College

Work: I have worked year round all four years of high school at my restaurant for 4 Hours/ day during school year and 6 Hours/day during summer.

Yeah, wouldn’t hurt to take it again, bc I have a feeling you’d be accepted anyway. You’d still be able to apply before the early response deadline even if you took it again as well.

In improvement in ACT could mean merit money, so definitely rey to improve it to 33. Also, 32+ would pretty much guarantee an invitation to the honors program.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I was planning on taking the up and coming ACTs but they are not offered in my state… im really bummed. but what do u think i should do now. i really want to get merit and honors. should i apply early with a 30 or wait for a better score and apply later? i really need some help.

if you did that well on the ACT, try taking the Oct. 6 SAT. who knows, you may even do better on that one. you would still be able to apply before the ER deadline again, and you lose nothing by waiting but a few weeks. that’s what i would do, esp. if you want honors (a 30 isn’t quite high enough).

does anyone else have any intake on what i should do? if i apply the earliest possible and send in my scores later, will they change their decisions about merit and honors? or if i apply a little bit later (as in the earliest possible with using the oct ACT test date), will they have money left for me?

If you use the Oct. ACT date, you should be fine. That will still be much earlier than many people apply. Might be safest that way, then they can’t second-guess themselves about honors/money. Good question though.
