Chances/Should I Re-take the GRE?

I’m applying to Masters of Education programs to become an elementary school teacher. Since this isn’t a typical research-based Masters, I’m worried GRE scores might weigh more heavily. (Is that true?)

I just graduated from Brown with a concentration in Education and a 3.8 GPA.

I’m applying to Stanford, Vanderbilt, UC Berkeley, and UT Austin (and others that don’t require the GRE). Stanford is my dream, but they only accept 25 students in the elementary program. Berkeley is currently my second choice.

Should I retake the GRE to increase my chances of a) getting into these schools and/or b) getting a fellowship/scholarship?

I only took it today and I already forgot the scores… Verbal was either 161 or 164. Math was either 154 or 156 (that’s the one I’m worried about).

Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer!

If you’re planning to be an elementary school teacher… frankly, I’m not sure why you’re applying to a bunch of extremely expensive prestigious private/OOS universities. An M.Ed. from Vanderbilt isn’t going to get you paid any more than an M.Ed from Anytown State University. The return on investment isn’t going to be there.

I wouldn’t worry about your GRE scores.
