Chances/Suggestions? Smith, RPI, etc.

Hi! I’ve been worrying about colleges for a while now and just got my subject test scores back, so I figured it was finally time to sign up and post this. Any advice would be much appreciated. Although I do have a list, I’m still open to finding new colleges that have what I need–I’m interested in either double majoring in Sociology and Cognitive Science/Neuroscience or doing a 5-year BS/MS in CogSci or Neuro. I’m having an especially hard time finding safeties with these traits, since I would prefer a smaller school!

Colleges:

  • Smith College
  • Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
  • Brown University (already know this would obviously be a reach, but want to know if it’s possible)
  • UCB (I’m a California resident)
  • Scripps College
  • Carleton College
  • Agnes Scott College
  • Occidental College

GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.55 W

Class Rank: 3/102

SAT: 2290 (800 CR 690 M 800 W)

Subject Tests: 800 Bio M and 760 Math 2

Courseload: I’ve been in a dual enrollment program through my school for all of high school so far, so I feel like it would be a little ridiculous to list all of my college credit classes. I will have an AS in Mathematics and an AA in Liberal Arts (Math & Science concentration) by the time I graduate high school, meaning that I will have at least 60 units with all general education done and math through Calc 3.

ECs:

  • Leadership program at a summer camp for gifted children that I’ve been going to since i was about 11 (10, 11, will hopefully continue in 12)
  • Co-founder & co-president of school newspaper (11, will continue in 12)
  • Co-founder & co-president of Rainbow Club/GSA (11, will continue in 12)
  • Secretary of Poli-sci club (11)
  • Secretary of Fandom club (will be in 12, got the position at the final club meeting of the year)
  • NHS member (10, 11, will continue in 12)
  • Girl Scout Bronze & Silver Awards
  • 7-time winner of National Novel Writing Month
  • Won two competitive cover contests based the synopsis of 2 novels from the above, kinda hard to explain so I might not include it in my app
  • Self-published a novel from the above, not very successful though
  • Student tutor at my school

Not sure about recommendations and essay yet.

Other:

  • Female
  • White/Jewish
  • Income bracket 120k+, but my parents are divorced and I’ve heard that RPI only counts noncustodial income, so it would likely be closer to 40k+ there
  • Taught self to draw & sew (I cosplay)
  • Will get some form of National Merit (got a 231 on the PSAT)
  • Hoping for an actual tutoring job soon (my interview is tomorrow!)

Thank you so much! Sorry this is so long!

Bump!

Anyone? :frowning:
