First, I would like to provide you with some background information about myself. I attend Creighton Preparatory High School in Omaha, Nebraska. It is a Catholic and Jesuit institution. The school does not release class ranking because it is a college preparatory school, but I am in the top ten percent of my class anyway. The majority of the classes I take are Advanced Placement, and Honors courses. I have earned straight A’s, and a 4.0 GPA since first semester Sophomore year; however, my Freshman year I suffered from severe depression, and I lacked completely any vigor for life. As a result, I performed poorly to an extreme degree: I received a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and got as low as C’s in some classes. I now work hard and do extremely well academically. As well as excelling academically, I have been a member of the Creighton Prep Varsity Swim Team every year that I have attended Prep; we are a nationally ranked team, coming 7th in the country last year. I am heavily involved in the Letterman’s Club, and I am in position to be made the Vice President for next year. I also participate in many service opportunities provided through the school, including Operation Others (an organization that provides holiday meals for the needs), tutoring at Hillside Elementary, I have volunteered as a judge at middle school speech tournaments, and I volunteer at the Sienna Francis House, a local soup kitchen. I am an intern at a law firm. I am also a rather proficient Latin student; I received a Magna Cum Laude award on the National Latin Exam, and I will be appointed president of the Creighton Prep Latin Club next year. I have not taken the ACT or SAT yet, but I expect to realistically earn a 33 on the ACT. Please weigh my chances assuming that I received a score of 33.

The first school that I wish to apply to is Georgetown University. I have a small amount of legacy status: my uncle (who attended Harvard for graduate school) attended Georgetown for undergraduate school, and my aunt attended Georgetown. In addition to the legacy status, Georgetown, like Prep, is a Catholic and Jesuit institution. Hopefully, these factors will benefit my chance of acceptance. What is your opinion on my chances to be accepted into Georgetown?

The next school I would like your opinion on is Notre Dame, both of my parents attended and graduated from Notre Dame, as did my grandpa, and my aunt. In addition to this legacy, Father Jenkins, the president of Notre Dame, attended and graduated from my high school, Creighton Prep. I hope that since both are Catholic institutions, it will help my cause as well.

I would also like your opinion on my chances to be accepted into Brown University, the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, and Dartmouth College. I do not have any ties to the Ivy League colleges besides my uncle’s graduation from Harvard, so I do not believe that I have any special factors regarding acceptance into those schools. I see these schools as the best possible, it would be a dream-come-true to be accepted into these colleges. I would be eternally grateful if you would give me your honest opinion on my chances of acceptance into these schools, and if at all possible, I would love examples of opportunities or strategies I can utilize to give me the best possible chances of acceptance.

I work extremely hard, and I will do anything to get into these colleges. I now have a lust for life, and I try to excel at all things; if there is anything at all that you can tell me that will benefit me in this college-race, I will be extremely thankful.
