Hi I’m a South American Lawyer, I graduate from one of the best Peruvian universities in Law (which I’m sure it wont matter cause its not well known jaja).

My GPA was 3.45,

I also had 2 years of interships of which 1 year and a half was for the goverment in public intitutions.

I have over a year of working experience (counting on since I graduated all of which has been done for public institutions in Peru).

I haven’t taken the GRE but I guess I can prepare for it.

I also feel suffient enough in english so that shouldn’t be a problem.

I also did some extracurricular activies envolving law magazines and international law and international policy groups while I was in the university, as well as volunteer work for non priviliged kids.

Any ways, I know this may not be as good as many other US citizens but what are my chances of getting into Princeton Woodrow Wilson School to study a MAs in IR??

I forgot to say that I also have some letters of recomendation from some goverment officials here in South America.

I assume you will be applying to the MPA program.

Princeton WWS is BY FAR the most competitive of the public affairs/international relations terminal degree programs. This year they admitted 10% of applicants and had a yield of close to 80%. No other program even comes close. For comparison, Harvard HKS usually admits around 25-30% with a yield around 60%.

That said, nobody is an “auto-admit” at WWS. While your profile is strong, I think you might need one or two more years of work experience before you have a really good shot there. You should also study hard for the GRE–even though the GRE isn’t nearly as important as some other entrance exams, for a school like WWS, every opportunity to differentiate yourself should be exploited.

Good luck!

Thanxs, yes it would be for the MPA.

Well I think if I were to apply on Decemeber 2009 in order to be acepted in 2010 I would reach the 2 years of work experience in public institution by then, which still adds up to my 1 year and a half of interships in public instiutions.

But you are right I guess I could give it one more year and apply for 2011 wich would give me 3 years of work experience.

¿Do ypu know if it hurts me if I apply once and I dont make it? Can I apply again next year after that or is it not a smart move?

I definitely recommend applying this year. If you don’t get in the first time, and apply again in December '10, I’m sure Princeton will only look at it as a sign of dedication to the program. I didn’t mean to be discouraging in my last post.

No worries its not discouraging at all, the more input I can get the better.

Does anyone know a person who got accepted to the WWS at Princeton, or has anyone applied? I would love to know where I stand in comparison.

Another thing, anyone think that the fact I’m Latino from a Developoing Country might have a possitive or negative effect in my application. Say positive cause of diversity but negative cause I got my Law degree in a non know university (for global standarts, cause in Peru its prettty respectable)?
