I am still very young, (9th grade), sophmore next year and I am at a pretty competitive high school. I just wanted to have some advice on how I can get myself into UoP or some of the Ivy Leagues, also Berkeley and UCLA.

My current goals are:

Top 10 USTA Tennis player in Nor Cal
State Champion Finalist or Winner in Oratorical Speaking
Straight A’s or maybe a max of 3-5 B’s on my transcript
President of (a club i might create next year) <– does this help?
Optimist Oratorical Contest 1st Place (Was a Finalist this year) Prize : $1500 US Scholarship
Rotary Club 1st Place (2nd Place this year) Prize : $700+

I DID NOT start community service yet, because I have heard that it is better to have an internship with the field that I am passionate with? is this true? Or do Internships not provide CS hours?

And since I want to major in Business (Management\Finance) or whatever, how should I find a place where I could intern?

Now, what if i was a Chair, or Officer for one of my Speech Events? How about a Key Club Officer\Chair. I am not too willing to run for a Student Government Officer though.

And also, I play tennis everyday so I could possible be ranked in the top 10 statewide or top 100 in the nation.

Please guys tell me what I need to do to get into an ivy league

Internships DO NOT grant Community Service hours… more like Personal Service hours, because community service is about taking initiative to better one’s environment rather than a means to an Ivy-covered end.

Do start your community service right away, but first grow some empathy with the suffering all around you.

Thanks loslobos for caring about the teenager generation, but I don’t worry as much as Junior and Seniors, however I do care about my future because I am driven and really want to be successful later on in life. Thank you though, many teachers tell me the same thing.

But, what other things can i do to increase my chances for getting into Ivy-Leagues?

Who cares about the Ivy leagues? What do you honestly know about them? They’re top schools, what else? Have you visited? Do you fit in socially? You’re a freshman, you dont even know what you 100% want to major in. Chill out, go play some video games with your buds, do well in school, do ECs you like and you’ll get in wherever you want.
