My ECs show that I enjoy sports, have math skills (for poker club and Mu Alpha Theta), and also have a passion for business. The problem I find is, I am just getting involved in all of these clubs junior year and it just look like I am padding my application. Also I am in more clubs but I am naming only the important ones.

Volunteer: Museum volunteer, Tutor, raised 4000 dollars for marfans disease, and many student government hours.

Summer activities: I haven’t put much thought into it but I was thinking on saying: every summer I seem to have an interest in a career path. Both summers going into freshman and sophomore year I was interested in programming, spending my summer reading and learning how to program. In summer going into junior year I was interested with the business field and met with Merrill lynch’s branch manager to discuss what is like at an investment bank.

Essay: I was thinking about writing on how I realized my option and how being a first generation college student and a first generation Albanian-American made it difficult.

I would appreciate it so much if you can give me some advice on improving my stats and your opinion on this stats. It’s going to be difficult getting into an Ivy League school and any advice would help!

What I mean is your guaranteed to get into them your stats are amazing!!

OP do NOT take david11230’s comments seriously. At all!!! Your stats are no guarantee of admission. Do you know how many applicants with PERFECT STATS are rejected from top schools every year? Your stats DO seem competitive for those schools. But you have no distinguished ecs. No impressive activities that will make your application stand out. No significant awards. No evidence of real achievement, aside from your stats. Unfortunately, admission to the top schools requires more than excellent stats, and anyone who tells you otherwise is truly uninformed about college admissions. That would seem to be your real barrier to competitiveness in the applicant pool. You need to seriously broaden your college search beyond the top schools. Always apply to a dream school or two, why not? But you need to be realistic and research schools that are surer bets. Without more to your application than the stats, these schools are all reaches for you. Maybe Michigan, but…

I understand what you are saying, what awards do you think show interest in business? Also would starting a business which makes a good profit be something that stands out?

How do you play soccer and baseball at the same time?

I can be two places at once.

I would say good chance. Perfect SAT scores, great GPA, Varsity athletics, and the fact that you are from a very underrepresented state all work in your favor. However, other than your varsity athletics, your EC’s are very weak. Poker and Lacrosse Club have the potential to detract from your application. I know its tough, but at this point i would recommend not to join anymore clubs and focus on your athletics and student government as your primary extracurriculars.
