Chances @ UChicago, JHU, Gtow, NU, Tufts...

Yale- Big Reach
Johns Hopkins- Reach
Amherst- Big Reach
GTown- Reach/Slight Reach
Northwestern- Reach
UChicago- Reach
Notre Dame- Reach
Others I wouldn’t be comfortable chancing.

I don’t see why people would think Notre Dame and U Chicago are matchish in the least bit. Nothing particularly makes her application special. Her GPA is average/below for any of the schools I chanced, and her ACT is barely in the 75%-25% range. Her ECs show nothing spectacular except for the student journals she had, and even then, I don’t think the other ECs and certainly not her numbers will hold down the fort for admissions.

I’d still encourage the OP to try her luck at them, and I think GTown/U Chicago/NorthWestern/JHU are still in her sight, but I would also have a list of safeties besides those schools up there. Also, do consider the amount of work you’ll be putting into applications. Thin it up a bit because, at the level you are right now, you’ll probably HAVE to take the optional interview at a lot of them, and you’ll just wear yourself out. I’d suggest cutting that down at least half, and adding a few safeties.

Yeah, I forgot to say that I put the majority of the schools as reaches because of the lack of EC’s. There’s no indication of significant leadership or a clear hook…

Also, be sure that all these universities offer a major in religion. I don’t know if they do or not, but just make sure they do, since your focus seems to be mostly on that aspect of yourself.
