Reaches?
Yale
Johns Hopkins
Swarthmore
Amherst
Wesleyan
Gtown
Northwestern

Matches?
UChicago
Carleton
Tufts

Safeties?
Macalester
Notre Dame

I know I’m a long shot!!!

Reaches:
Yale
Amherst

Mid Reaches:
JHU
Gtown
NU
Carleton
UChicago (it always depends on your essays)

Low Reaches:
Swarthmore
Notre Dame

Matches:
Wesleyan
Macalester

Sorry, but Tufts and UChicago are reaches too – maybe not on the level of Yale, but certainly on that of Amherst, Gtown, etc.

I know, Yale would be like my ultimate dream-reach school. UChicago is my big one; I’ll be applying there EA.

Tufts isn’t on the level of Amherst, though.

Essays, essays, essays! From your stats, they could make you or break you.

It seems, however, from your impressive array of research papers, that you should do fine in them. Good luck! I’m looking at similar schools. Just out of curiosity, what do you want to do with that religion degree?

Hmmm, I’d say it’s something like this:

High Reaches:
Yale
Amherst
Swarthmore

Reaches:
Johns Hopkins
Gtown
Northwestern

HIGH Matches (or maybe low reaches)
UChicago
Carleton
Tufts
Wesleyan

Matches
Macalester (maybe a safety-ish? I don’t know much about Mac)
Notre Dame

What is comes down to is your ACT is good and your ECs are pretty impressive with the research papers (though not mind blowing), and your location will help for a lot of these schools, BUT your GPA is low for a lot of these schools as well, so it’s a toss up. I’d focus on finding a few more true safeties.

Note: Those schools in high matches/mow reaches are there instead of in the reaches category partially because I get the impression that those are schools that will really like the independent research you did, and are also schools where a good essay will go a long way…so make it good!

Also, which rank does you school consider the official rank? Because your weighted rank will be helpful, while your unweighted rank might hurt a little.

Macalester & Notre Dame safeties… nope!

But…

I’ll rank these schools by difficulty of getting in…

BIG REACHES
Yale, Amherst, Swarthmore

SLIGHT REACHES
University of Chicago, Northwestern, Carleton, Tufts

HIGH MATCHES
Johns Hopkins, Wesleyan, Gtown

LOW MATCHES
Notre Dame, Macalester

Best of luck!

Haha, what college is Gtown???

Yoz, homie I go to Gtown.

Ah, I’m really bored/tired.

zivalicha: lol!

kingkouture: more research, I guess :stuck_out_tongue: ha

I hesitate to say that I’m a moderately okay writer; everyone says that they have “fantastic essays,” I know, but I hope that mine’ll be pretty strong.

This cant be correct!!!

JHU, GTown, and Wesleyan are not high matches…at worst slight reaches

Forgot to mention: Work 12 hours a week at a gift shop, and take extra classes at local community college.

Should I even bother applying to Yale? I know it’s a crazy reach, but stranger things have happened…

If it’s your dream school, APPLY. 1. You’d always wonder if you would’ve gotten in. 2. It’s just an essay and 60 bucks. A small price to pay to go to your dream school.

Like you said, anything can happen.

Bump bump bump!

Bump bump again

Hee hee, bumping again

Bump bump bump

May I ask which public school in MN? I’m quite familiar with some of the places there.

riceman: I don’t want to say online, but it’s in the southeast, pretty close to the twin cities
