GPA and SAT are in the averages. Your extra curricular activities sound very good.
The top 10%, coupled with Hispanic ethnicity, should make you a good match.

The fact that you’re from a “very competitive” high school might hurt you with a 2010 SAT, but the fact that you are hispanic like mentioned above does help. Make sure to at least mention that in your essays somewhere. Otherwise you look like a match. You shouldn’t really have a problem - good luck.

What happened to going to stanford?

Fizast I would love to go to Stanford more than anything in the world but I’m trying to be realistic here! 7% acceptance rate isn’t very promising…

^Your ethnicity helps you much more with Stanford than it does with UCLA.

Being Hispanic makes no difference for admission to UCLA because of prop 209. They are not allowed to consider race, sex, or ethnicity.

HopelessStanford,

With your STATS…I think you have a good shot at Stanford. They LOVE Hispanics and would take you over any Asian! A 2010 SAT is like golden. I know someone who got in with a 1770 and he wasn’t an athlete. You should feel really good about Stanford. I would also apply to USC UCLA and Berkeley just as back ups. I’d say you have 45% of getting into Stanford. 65% for Berkeley, 80% for UCLA and 90% for USC. Keep up the great work and let me know if you get accepted. Good Luck with your application! Write about being hispanic…it will get you in!
