I’ve applied to Penn, Villanova, and Rutgers EA/ED. I’ve been accepted to Rutgers (still waiting on the Business school). I’m also planning on applying to TCNJ, Hopkins, NYU, BC, and Haverford, while considering Lafayette and BU. I have a 1900 superscored SAT (570 CR, 630 M, 700 W - inconsistent, I know), and a 28 ACT (31English, 26 Math, 29 Reading, 26 Science). I’m planning on retaking the ACT in December, and I’m hoping to get either a 29 or 30+.

What do you think my chances are for these schools based purely on my test scores?

I’d say Penn, BC, JHU and Haverford are most probably out. The others you have a shot at with good grades and ECs. Especially if you’re not asking for financial aid.

thanks! I agree, sadly. I’m kind of hoping for a miracle. I have a 4.54/4 weighted and 3.96/4 unweighted gpa. I’m currently 4th in my class of about 200.

dont listen to waverly, he doesnt know what hes talking about. None of the above schools are “out”. If you get your act into the 30s, you have a good chance for bc, and the rest. Haverford is going to be hard. Penn is probably going to be the hardest if you want business. All the schools are reachable, just distinguish yourself.

sorry, should have clarified. the common data sets for my top schools state that approximately twenty percent of the incoming class had a CR score less than 600… would you consider this group to be athletes?

So you are talking about the University of Pennsylvania? Yes- those in the lowest 20% are URMs, athletes, or development cases. Unhooked people with 1900/28 stats do not get in.

I have a superscore act of 30 now. Whew. I’m so much more relieved (relatively speaking, I know it still wont be easy). As for haverford, I’ve been talking with the tennis coach about playing and he’s been advising me about my scores- he said I’m “in the ball park” and that he’ll be including me on his list to admissions. I hope this helps.
