chances with mediocre gpa, decent sat score

hello. I was wondering what my chances would be at northwestern.

I go to a very tough private school in San Jose. One cousin graduated from northwestern and one is currently attending northwestern. Also, my essays for this school are great. I know this because my counselor says so.

gpa: 3.3 uw, 3.7 w

sat: 2000(630 cr, 670 w, 700 m)
m+cr=1330

ap scores
art history-3
euro-4
us history-4
comp sci a-3

im an eagle scout and know that junior asst scout master is not the same as president!

cant help with your chances tho-sorry

Swamy,
The avg sat at NW was 1402 last year, and you are near the bottom 25% in terms of that. Also, what is your class rank? (a 3.3 GPA looks better if you go to a tough school). With low SATs and GPA, coupled with ecs that are decent but don’t stand out, I would have to say NW is a reach.

not sure if NW will know your private school, but yeah gpa is low and SAT’s aren’t really that great either. if you have KILLER essays and recs, then maybe—or some outstanding hook or something, but otherwise a high reach.

NU guys, not NW. ;)

^^ i realized the other day why everyone makes that mistake and it’s because they list the score under “NW” during football games on ESPN.
