Hello, I’m new here. I promised I would never join CC, but now that the application deadlines are approaching I’m rather desperate for opinions other than those of my college counselor (who is wonderful, don’t get me wrong).

Basically, I want to know how important SAT subject test scores are, and how they might affect my chances of getting into a top liberal arts institution.

Obviously I can’t say everything about myself right here, but I’ll give you a few highlights:

-I’m a Bronfman Fellow
-I’m an underrepresented minority (my mother is Argentine Jewish and thus “Hispanic”, my father is African-American)
-I’m an MUN president at my school
-I attended Amherst’s DIVOH
-I’m a National Achievement finalist
-I’ve won book awards from Harvard, Williams, and Minerva
-I’m a student senator
-I play piano
-I volunteer A LOT

That being said, my SATs were decent for some of the schools I’m applying to (my “range schools” are schools like Wesleyan, Vassar, Brandeis, my reach schools are Brown, Columbia, Amherst, Yale (I’m a legacy), etc.):

1st sitting: 690 CR, 680 Math, 640 Writing (ouch)

2nd sitting: 760 CR, 620 Math (oy vey), 700 Writing

Superscored I have a 2140.

SAT IIs:

680 literature (didn’t study)
550 Hebrew (obviously Bar Mitzvah prep and Sunday School wasn’t enough)

I just took the US History SAT II because I’m taking a college history course and expect to get in the high 600s or low-mid 700s from practice

I will being taking Math II in January, and am studying hard.

What do you think? Not to be pretentious, but do I have a shot at the Ivies?
