Personal Essay:
This is usually based on opinions, however I had Professor Sean Burns Ph.d from UC Santa Cruz help me revise it, and he said it’s brilliant. I feel this will be the highlight of my application. If interested, I can post it here.

Applying to:
UCSB
UCSD
UCSC
UCLA
UCD
UCI

CAL POLY
SDSU
CSUN
CSULB

Now then…
I have several questions.

 1. What are my chances to getting accepted to UCSC?
 2. I might transfer to Santa Monica College, and finish my remaining credits there, would that be a mistake or should I stay at the college I am currently attending?
 3. DO I have any chances with other UCs?

If need be, I can add more information about myself.

bump…

Did you TAG? You should be fine for UCSC. The others will be iffy without a TAG depending on your PS. I’d say you’ve got a decent shot at UCI and UCSB. UCLA is a serious reach, I’m not familiar with the others and history.

About the switching CC’s shouldnt matter just let them know. However, SMC is a very impacted school, make sure you can get into classes before you do anything drastic.

I tagged UCSB. Personally I feel I have a standing chance with all the school that I applied to due to my EC, however I fear that most people looking over my application wont fully go over all of it. Thus reducing my chances of getting accepted.

Though my GPA is low, my volunteer work plus my personal essay should prove the interest I have in history.

not sure about chances, but interested in seeing your personal essay, perhaps you can post it here after the deadline is passed trw

Don’t post your essays here before the deadline if they are, as you say, brilliant. Your chances for UCSC are good and UCSB since you tagged you should be in too.

The rest of the mid to high tier UC’s would be a reach and while I understand your EC’s and essays are superb, GPA and pre-req satisfaction are the primary determinants in admission. Some UC’s don’t even look at your PS as they don’t utilize holistic approaches to asses applicants.

Best of luck on admissions and I’d suggest staying at Berkeley instead of going to SMC, simply for the sake of simplicity and ease.

You’re more likely to get into the UC’s than long beach. that school is insanely impacted knew someone last year who get into UCSD but rejected from long beach.

More comments would be appreciated.

Bump =P…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1164969-2012-transfer-chance-me-thread-72.html</a></p>

Most UCs don’t give a rat’s ass about ECs for transfer applicants. I believe UCB does to an extent, but on the opposite end of the spectrum you could have saved a group of kindergartners from a burning school bus and it won’t matter to UCSD if you have a 3.2.
