Chances

This is not a typical chances thread. I just wanted to know to what extent participation in my Pennsylvania’s Governor’s School for International Studies will bolster my chances of admission to University of Michigan.

Stats:
White male
3.84 UW GPA (Around 4.2 W)
Around 1800 SAT (took in April)
IB certificate candidate
Pennsylvania Governor’s School for International Studies
Full Scholaraship to study abroad in Japan for 2 months
Reischauer Scholars Program
VP School’s International Club
President and co-founder of School’s Japanese culture club
National Honor Society
Urban Public School in Pittsburgh

Plan to major in Japanese/East Asian Studies or International Studies

I’d say very marginal candidate, being out of state. I’m not really sure about that program you participated in, but UM seems to be very random these days.

Unfortunately…i must disagree w/ jakem…i believe you are closer to a match for uofm as long as you up your sat…your gpa is in line…and you are an IB candidate, which shows that you are taking tough classes…the only thing that is holding you back is your sat score…if you get it above 2100 youll be in good shape…sorry…cant comment on how that program would effect your chances…this is the first ive heard of it…

cannot say anything about your chances. UMich is very random. I have a higher SAT than you and still got waitlisted (even though my EC’s aren’t as good as yours).
