hi, i just got deferred from my first choices school. i already know what schools im going to RD to, but im just wondering what schools you guys think i should apply to. any ideas are great. here are my stats.

I came from Ukraine, list Russian as my first language, and speak Russian at home.

national merit commended student

my essay is pretty good

i have four recs in total. i have two good/really good teacher recs and two supplements. one supplement is from my rabbi, which is really good. and another supplement from the assistant principal of my school. this one is really good as well.

basically, im just wondering what school people think i should apply to.

bump, thank you

ok…
your scores are not that bad but considering you come from a school like “sty,” and you ECs are pretty bland, I don’t think you have anything that would really distinguish you to a Ivy ad. board. However, if your essays are good, who knows?

first of all, I dont know what school you were deferred from so its hard to make a judgement.

But here goes…apply to 1 or 2 Ivys, Dartmouth, Brown, somewhere there. (reaches)

Then I’d probably try NYU (though you’re probably sick of the city), UC Berkely and Johns Hopkins as slight reaches/or possible matches.

And I’d have 2 or 3 safe schools.

haha, yea, i got deferred from hopkins. im not applying to any ivys. things in the range of hopkins.

I was wondering, we all gor, if it was a requirement for you to take any US history classes in Ukraine?

By the way, what is your standpoint on the elections in Ukraine. I assume that you are pro-U.S. since you applied to a school in the US. Please elaborate.

haha. no, i moved here when i was 7. sorry if i didnt make that clear. so yea, im definitely pro-us. anyone have any thoughts on colleges? thanks.

bump bump bump
