Chances?

  • Recently a Sophomore and my cumulative for the year is 3.1 (not including Sophomore year) and I'm doing poorly at school but I'm trying my hardest. I take courses a grade above and currently have an AP score of 3 for PUSH and plan on taking two more AP classes next year (AP Euro and AP Comp Sci A). I also have 3 years of Spanish done, 8th grade -> 10th
    • Haven't taken the ACT/SAT but I got 1100 on my PSAT though I will be taking it again next year.
  • I was in every level of CYSO and currently in the highest, Columbus Youth Symphony Orchestras as an extracurricular and I am in the top level of my school's orchestra playing the Violin. Every summer I do a volunteer session to help bring Chinese students to introduce them to American life and the school system as a leadership activity. I gain 40 hours from the activity. I used to do sports but I dropped it to gain more time to study.
  • I plan on Majoring in Computer and Information Science (BA, BS)

sounds like taking classes a year above was a mistake. Colleges are going to give little to no advantage in admission for this, lots of kids do it. But for you specifically, if it led to these lower grades and you could have done better by sticking with the normal program for your grade then you’ve hurt your chances a lot.
