Chances???

I want to know if you think I’ll get into CAS…

I’m from Canada

Grade 11 - have probably an 87 or 88 average
Past years = Grade 9 I had some hard teachers/adjusting to HS, and had an 84 and last year finished with an 86 average
I go to a religious school, so we take 4 extra courses and we’re not semestered
I’m taking a hard course load in the religious subjects, and a hard one in the non-religious ones
I have all 89-96, except: Chem is only in the mid, high 70s (I cant grasp, have been working my butt off all year and I am NOT planning on post-secondary chem work), and Bio (probably finish with a mid 80, maybe 85… insane teacher) and, at the moment, I have a high 80 (maybe 86) in English

EC: Dance (all my life) - Ballet (all my life, currently studying for Cecchiti Exams and hope to take them in November), Tap (since I was 8, did competitive dance in middle school, and hope to take exams when I become of legal age and can take them), years of Jazz, Modern and Celtic when I was younger, I was an assistant Tap teacher for spring semester of Gr 10
Religious Group - Regional Board (Gr 11: VP of Spirit, Gr 12: VP of Education), National Board (Gr 12)
School Play (Gr 9 - Front of House, Gr 10 - Cast/Dancer, Gr 11 - Jr Choreographer, Gr 12 - Sr Choreographer)
Guidance Program (Lifestyle, Gr 10, 11, 12)
Leader on School Retreats for Grade 9 Students
School Newspaper (expecting to be an Editor next year)
I write a Weekly Email to friends and family. It’s called a Weekly Dvar Torah (Piece of Torah) or a Shabbat Shalom email. I’ve been asked several time to expand it beyond just a LOOOOONG personal list and to add it to my religious group’s website/email newsletter
The odd other thing here and there that I can’t recall at 1AM

Work Experience: 1 year at a day camp where I was a CIT for the 2 previous summers

SATs: I haven’t taken them yet, but so far, diagnostics are 660W, probably a low 600 for CR and 600 for Math. But I have all summer to improve.

Well? Do I have even a slim chance???

I think you might have a chance. Don’t count on it though, it’s definitely a reach, but NYU was a reach for me too, and I got in. Good luck!

You have some good extracurriculars; however, I’d work on bringing up those SATs. The average SAT score for NYU overall out of 1600 is something in the 1300s. I’m not sure if it’s more difficult for international students to get in or not, but to be on the safe side, you want everything to be as high as possible.

Other than that, I really can’t be certain, as I have no idea what goes on at those admissions meetings. Good luck.
