Chances?

Alright I’m from Spain and I just finished junior year, my first year studying in the US. My SAT/ACT/grades are as follows

SAT: math: 800, writting: 690, reading: 510 — 2000/2400

SAT SUBJECT TESTS: Math 2c: 800, Chem: 790, Phys: 800

ACT: math: 36, english: 29, reading: 24, science: 36, essay: 30 ----31

GPA: 4.56

I know, the reading really ****s my score up, but I did alright in the writting part. Actually I wanted to apply for CalTech, but then I saw the SAT scores of ppl from there and omg…even though I’m good at science…
I PLAN TO RETAKE BOTH SAT AND ACT, but I know the max I can improve reading is like 600+.
Do I have chance of getting into Cornell? Does the fact of being international student or have being just 4 years learning english affect how they look at my reading score in both SAT and ACT?
…do I have a chance to get into Caltech? lol
please answer

You are going to apply to the engineering school right? You have really high scores on your science subjects, so that’s great.
However, (and I speak as an international student too), I am 100% sure you can have a much higher score on the reading, especially having in mind that your English/writing scores are not low. Just practice a lot. Try to reach at least 650 on the reading part of the SAT… Even if you are a “tech” guy, you’ll need to read a lot in college, so I’m not sure such a low score wouldn’t be a problem…

yes you have to have a more balanced reading score…once you retake it…if you improve 50+ points they’ll know you can improve over time…

for the reading section…you dont even have to answer all of them…i skipped alot and managed a 670
