Chances

Anyone up for chancing my brother?
Here’s his basic profile:

prestigious private school
SAT: 2310 (800M/760V/750W)
GPA: ~3.85/4 UW (top 5%)
Toughest possible course load
AP Calc BC in 9th grade (5 on AP)
Hispanic (Panamanian)
Tri-varsity athlete
Captain of fencing team
3rd in a national physics competition
Plays cello for youth symphony orchestra
Plays bass in a band

very nice credentials for math and science

if he is recruit-worthy in fencing or the other 2, then no problem

if he’s not, he still has decent changes since URM

i hope he continued math somehow after freshman year

That’s a competitive profile. He should get a hard look by the admissions committee.

He’s probably good enough to be on the team but not good enough to get the coaches chasing after him. I guess he could call up the coaches and express interest, though I’m not sure if that would help him in the admissions process.

The last couple years he took differential equations, linear algebra, multivariable calc, and chaos theory. He’s doing an independent study on some type of math I haven’t heard of next year…I think it was called “complex analysis” but I’m not sure.
