Both Harvard and Princeton are possibilities, but they just have so many great candidates to choose from it’s hard to say–and I’m thinking you will probably just miss out. On the other hand, I think you will get in at MIT, but I can’t be sure. Write great essays for these schools and we’ll see what happens. Of all the rest, you should get in at all of them–although I think you should also apply to UCLA as a backup to UC Berkeley (even though I think you will get in at Berkeley).

I’m presuming you plan to major in Communications, International Relations, or Political Science at Harvard–where your debate skills will work in your favor–but you need to show passion in your choices. I’m unclear what you plan to major in at MIT–so figure this out.

Best of success.

P.S. Rank means a lot at some of these schools–so if you school truly ranks based upon weighted GPA this could hurt your chances considerably, since top 10% would not be as impressive as the 3.99 UW GPA.

thanks a lot - i’ll try my best on essays

my school does rank on weighted GPA, but i think after next year i might be within the top 10 or maybe even top 5, because our weighted GPA does not include Honors classes, only AP.

bump? hahahha

Hi:
From what you’ve provided, looks like you have good leadership qualities, but the effectiveness of your EC’s probably depends on how much time you’ve invested. Also, awards seem to lack a bit (have you won any state individual or team debate tournaments, cuz those significantly bolster your leadership position in debate??).
Harvard–reach
Cornell–low reach, mostly a match
Princeton–reach
MIT–reach
Duke–slight reach
UC Berkeley (OOS)–reach cuz OOS
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign–safety
University of Michigan–match
Georgia Tech–match
Virginia Tech–safe match
University of Virginia–match
*I don’t know much else about you, so my eval is almost completely unfounded, but best of luck!
