March SAT: CR = 450 Math = 530 Writing = 490 Total = 1470
June SAT: CR = 520 Math = 550 Writing = 390 Total = 1460

I didn’t really study for the June SAT’s and I messed up big time for the MC of the Writing Section while my Essay score went from a 7 in March to a 9 in June. I’m currently studying vigorously on SAT Vocab and doing alot of Practice Tests for the October SATs. I’m aiming for a 1800.(600,600,600)

I have alot of extracurriculars however:

4 Years Concert Band = Band President
3 Years Jazz Band
1 Year Pit Band
3 Years Academic Dec. (recieved numerous medals)

I’m out of state and my school is very competitive inwhich we send around 25-50% of each year’s class to an ivy league or equivalent school

bump…

Honestly, i think you are a reach. You are OOS, so admission is tougher to begin with. Avg. SATs OOS are somewhere in the 17-1800 range, I believe, and your grades are not strong. Essays are key though, make them stand out after they have finished reading your entire app. Get teachers to help you, it makes an ENORMOUS difference. Your thoughts will be more clear and concise. You should retake the SAT, and if you can bring it up a few hundred points, you will have a shot. Best of luck.

im retaking in october and taking sat 2 math IIC. the sat2 is not for msu though. thanks for the post though. i should have 2 great teacher recs. and my essays should be good.
