While reading the following, please keep in mind, I AM NOT trying to invoke pity or sympathy, just asking your opinion, as to whether or not it would increase my chances of admission

I have been reading “Fiskes Guide To Getting Into the Right College,” which has been immensly helpful, but I saw that in applynig for college, it is a good idea to include something that would stick with the admission officer, I have what I believe is an, pardon me saying, an amazingly unique situation, I was born 3 months premature, with numerous statistics, with an 11% chance of survival, along with a 95% percent chance of being severly mentally handicapped, the doctors bluntly told my parents to prepare to put me in a medical institution, and I am, 17 years later trying to accepted into college, so in conclusion, would this help my chances?

I can assure you that this is in no way exaggerated, in fact it might be understated, but oh well, least I have something at my disposal, right?

did you get lucky that you grew up healthy? Like did it actually handicap you. IDK if you would remember as a baby, but definitely in one of your essays talk about how your condition affected your family.

but unless you grew up and had to battle whatever handicaps you may or may not have don’t think it would help.

i would say if you had a problem, but i dont think you did.
or if you were trying to get into like a medical program… otherwise its not worth it. you also dont want to annoy an admissions officer…
