Hows it lookin?

if you dont mind me asking, what is best witness in county?

It was a Mock Trial award. In each trial there are witnesses and attorneys. At the conclusion of each trial, one person is given the award of “best witness” and another “best attorney”. I was lucky enough to win “best witness” in each trial I participated in.

At the county banquet (for all the teams in the county) I was named as the best witness in the county – due to my performance in trial.

It’s not a huge award, I just thought it might be important because its award that I won outside of school competition.

any thoughts…?

I think you have a great shot. Try to raise some of those SAT II’s if you can. Though…I still think you are an incredibly boring applicant (most people to Dartmouth are though).

Hahah, aerialblue thanks. I would agree you with though, I don’t have any “hooks”, or well, anything out of the ordinary. But I do appreciate the feedback.

OP, you need to find some way to stand out. I’m intrigued by you statement that you teach an AP Gov class…

I took that class as a junior, and my teacher asked me if I’d like to help him teach my senior year. I make powerpoints and lecture, I also make the class projects for everyone to do. My teacher does the same. We split time teaching. Its fun haha

anyone else have some thoughts?

Which witness did you play in last year’s case? I’m from NJ too, so I’m assuming you had State vs. Fisher. I played Lin Fennimore Richman and Avery Fisher. Our county doesn’t issue “best witness / attorney” awards though…

Avery Fisher, good ol defendant. Are you in high school this year too? I’m the plaintiff attorney (opening).

I’m a junior and I’m plaintiff attorney and doing the opening also. It’s my first year as an attorney and my third year on mock trial. Freshman and sophomore year I played witnesses.

You’re in.

Btw what school in NJ?

MYSOJ1230, your that confident?

Some of the other posters said I need to stand out somehow, and I agree. The million dollar question though, is how?

Also, anyone else with any thoughts. I really appreciate all the feedback I’ve gotten so far.

…Oh wait. You’re asian? Probably not as good a chance as I said before. And 4 debate awards? Where do you go…like ALJ or Randolph?

Neither. Why does being asian (i’m actually Indian) hurt me? What did you think I was that gave you the “you’re in” impression?

I think being president of your class and NHS is a strong point and teaching the AP class-you’re a good candidate.

Thanks b’smom. Does calling Dartmouth, or sending the admissions office an email with any updated awards matter?

I know someone eariler had said that Dartmouth’s views an application as a sufficient amount of interest. Just wondering…

Why wouldn’t you want your rank to be reported? 5/603 is really good.

It was complete sarcasm. I would love if they reported my rank. I was kinda dissapointed when I found out they woudln’t but, I mean, I can’t really do anything about it. Might as well just laugh and move on.
