You’ll definitely need to boost your SAT scores. Don’t forget that AU only considers the Verbal and Math components of the test. Also your GPA and course rigor are almost equally important. Finally, make sure that you are not just a member of clubs but that you continue next year to take leadership positions. Anyone can join a club, running an organization is what makes the difference.

They do look indirectly when I had my interview last year, my interviewer asked to see my scores and when she saw my 11 on the essay both times I took it she was impressed. They do consider it. And I was admitted.

My daughter will like to hear that…she got 11 and 12’s on her SAT/ACT essays and although many say they don’t count it, I tell her they still have to see it.
She is visiting American and other DC colleges this summer with a group from a Yale summer group and she is excited. I think they are seeing GW, Howard, American, Catholic, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins and a couple more I can’t remember.
Her SAT/ACT is a bit lower than yours, but she is taking both again in the Fall. (fingers crossed)
