THANK YOU! I love this school.

I’d say your definitely in, but I’m surprised you want to go to MD when you have guaranteed admission to the state university of your choice in TX. The financials will be much more challenging going to MD OOS.

I don’t want to go to UT or A&M with 300 kids from my town. I’m ready for a new adventure. Also, Maryland’s journalism program is amazing. =)

Do you think I could get a scholarship at Maryland?

Yes, but doubtful of a full ride.

Good luck Kate from a fellow Texan with a DS at UMD!! I know what you mean about not wanting to go to UT & A&M!! DS had automatic acceptance to the state schools, plus a full ride to A&M, but chose UMD over that and many others. He is very happy in MD and I’m sure you will be too!

I understand you don’t want to be around 300 kids from your HS and you’re ready for a new adventure. But UT has one of the top ten best Journalism programs in the nation…I got my Masters in Journalism at UT. Great professors, great facilities, great daily newspaper. If you don’t end up at Maryland, go to UT…the university is so big you definitely won’t be hanging out with HS classmates! Good luck with Maryland!

Jewels–thanks! Does your son know many other Texas at UMD?
Centh–thank you. I’ve already been accepted at the UT Communications School :)

Kate,

Believe it or not, he has met two other Texans! One from Austin in fact. I think the other one may be from the Dallas area.

Great, Kate! I’m sure you’ll be happy either way! :)
