Chances?

I have applied Early Action
Unweighted GPA: 3.0
Weighted GPA: 3.5
SAT: 1850
ACT: N/A
Out of state (CT)

I have been enrolled in at least 2 honors courses every year for high school, this year I am taking a UConn English 1011 this year (UConn provides my high school with its own english course, similar to an AP but we do not have an AP exam at the end fo the year) and I am also taking Ap Government and Politics.

I have been working a 10+ hour job at my local riding barn for the past 4 years and have recieved my Girl Scout Gold Award aswell. I have been a year book editor for the past two years with active participation in my freshman and sophomore years too. I am also heavily involved in the musical department at my school and this year I am the Stage Manager for our schools production.

I have been in conctact with the admissions office every few weeks asking questions and showing my interest in the university. What do you think my chances are for getting in?

Based on my experience with my two kids, one who is currently a USC student and one who has applied…you sound like you are in good shape with the AP’s and EC’s. We are also from CT so I am familiar with the UCONN English course and both my kids have taken it. I think your chances are very good that you’ll get in and if you can get the math and reading portion only of your SATS to 1250 or above you should qualify for some scholarships. The writing portion is not generally considered at many schools. Which ones depends on how you score on the SAT’s and in some cases other factors are also considered. You have an excellent chance of acceptance. Good Luck!

oh, and just funny little side note…I picked my son up from the airport last night, he is now home for a month for winter break. We had snow and freezing rain on Wednesday…it was 75 degrees in Columbia!!!
