Looking forward to be in the National Honors Society, Math Team, and a Peer Mediator. I played jv soccer freshmen year and sophmore year( looking to be in varsity next year). and I have played tennis freshmen year

I really LOVE UMCP

I wouldn’t spend too much time worrying about it at this point (enjoy high school! You’re a sophomore!!). However, UMD is very numbers oriented, so you will want to do everything you can to keep getting that GPA up. Also, as long as you can handle the workload, you should plan to take as many AP courses that you can handle in your Jr. and Sr. years. For merit awards, etc. they really look at whether you took the hardest classes available to you (which generally includes AP Calc, Physics, or Chem, etc.). Good luck!

Thanks! anyone else?

Also, your SAT scores are really, really important. Don’t wait too long before you take it, so that you can allow yourself enough time to retake if necessary. Many people still try to take the SAT in late fall of their senior year, which is really too late.

Your completely wrong here astrophysicsmom. UMD is more than willing to accept the October test. Senior year is actually the best time to take the SATs… I realize it was my last chance to take the test and that motivate me to study very hard the summer before.

I think she means that it’s too late to START taking the sat in oct. Because if you want to retake it, then it’s too late.
