Chances

I am NERVOUS over here. Still awaiting decisions from my top 3 choices (BU, Skidmore, and Columbia) and I don’t know what to do with myself other than ask for some chances at those 3 schools.

ACT: 25. (32 English, 26 Reading, 24 Science [my second time], 20 Math)
GPA: 3.1/4
Ranking: School doesn’t rank.
ECs: Hospital volunteer for 2 summers, worked as a teaching assistant at temple from 8-12th grade, peer tutor for disabled students at my school (2 yrs), interned at a nonprofit organization in 9th grade
Awards/honors: Special Commendation for an MLK Essay, my Junior Thesis was nominated for the Kennedy Prize, I received an award for my volunteer work,
Recommendations: Supposedly, they were very good – that was noted in a scholarship I received from one of the schools I applied to.
Major applied for: English or Psych

I have to call it a reach.
Your ACT is in the bottom 25% and the average GPA for last year’s admits was 3.59.
Good luck though!

Thank you! Does it help me at all that my dad knows the dean (of the University, not of admissions)?

That certainly doesn’t hurt.
Your EC’s help also.
I assume your GPA is unweighted. That’s what will hurt you the most.
Again, good luck!
