Recs/Essay:
I know my counselor really well it should be superb. And I have two teachers picked out who will really rave about me. I am a good writer so essays should go well.
Thoughts, comments, suggestions? I’m very sorry for the protracted nature of the post but I thought it was better to post everything relevant so you might evaluate (I’ll be listing a lot less on the App ;).

oops, forgot to mention that:
A) I am a white, middle class male (that is probably a bad thing)
B) My grandpa attened stanford graduate school (that is probably a good thing)

I say there’s about a 13% chance you’re getting in.

Heh, I figured I would get replies like this :). I know I’m in the general ballpark, I guess I’m just looking for an objective opinion (IE not my own) on whats good/whats bad/what stands out.
Thanks

Your ECs and stats are going to meet or exceed what the are looking for. The essays will probably be the reason they decide to take you or not. Be genuine and don’t come off sounding full of yourself.

bump… any other opinions

Any final opinions… again, not looking for a percentage, but what is good/what stands out, etc.
If anyone has suggestions on what would be a better essay topic wise for the stanford extracurricular essay- a somewhat quirky, humorous topic on debate culture and what it has instilled in me, or a more meaningful experience with sevice and my administrative position in Key Club and how that has benefited some people. Also, what’s preferable in general on the essays: being authentic and unique with the risk as being seen as casual or joking, or being reflective and open with the risk of sounding prosaic.

You do have a shot - but you know that already.
