The application as a whole is somewhat underwhelming, but it also seems like you’re a very good writer, so maybe your essays could make up for it? All in all, no one really knows without looking at your application, but we’ll both know in a month eh? GOOD LUCK!

I’d have to agree with stereostaticxx, ACT scores could definitely be higher and same goes for GPA… however, you haven’t told us what your major is looking like. If you’re going after something writing related (and I assume you are), then that should raise your chances as you seem to excel in that area. I’d say don’t give up hope, but be prepared for it to go either way. In the end we do all we can to get in but it always, at least a little bit, comes down to pure chance.

^^AdComms at Arts and Science schools don’t really care what major you say you might pursue, since it is completely non-binding. Obviously if you are applying to, say, McCormick (engineering) or Medill (journalism), individual areas of strength can have an impact.
That being said, your numbers put you on the bubble. It could go either way. Your unweighted GPA, composite ACT, and subject test scores are not particularly strong for NU.

Your app looks similar to mine. I am very involved around school and in the community, and I feel like my essays were strong, but I know my grades could be higher. I think you have a decent shot, especially if you could impress them with your writing. Good luck to you!
