This is a hypothetical question. I can’t seem to did the answer online. Let’s I filled out the fafsa and sublotted it to all my college but I did not complete the other sections (i.e. CSS profile, tax returns, etc…) that are specific to each college I applied to because I was not expecting large financial aid. However, my families financial status took a dive due to certain circumstances and I am now in need of the financial aid but the deadlines for submitting the documents was a month ago. Will I still get financial consideration?
You will always get FAFSA consideration, but it will be based on your situation as of the day you filed (assets on that day, tax info from the prior-prior tax year) unless you appeal it. The other documents are school specific and you’ll have to ask them whether they will still consider your application being submitted late.
Each school is different and each school runs out of money.
^^ @twoinanddone has given you good advice^^^; you need to ask.
Yes. Each school’s financial officer can review a change in income status (for Fafsa). They usually have a specific form to fill out. They will determine what you must send in for “proof” of the decline. I.e, 2016 returns, lay off notice, etc
IF you filled out the FAFSA, that means if you are eligible for federal aid (PELL, federal loans) you will receive them.
Schools that provide their own institutional aid and require the CSS profile/CSS non-custodial profile or their own financial aid forms, if you do not submit them, you will not get any institutional aid regardless of your EFC on the FAFSA.
Some schools also have very strict deadlines when it comes to institutional aid; if you don’t meet the deadline, then you will receive no aid.
