My EFC went from around 2,000 to 0 in the past year according to FAFSA. Since this change is so drastic, should I reapply for the CSS Profile also?

I attend Elon University, where only incoming first-year students are required to fill out the Profile. Do you think they would look at it if I completed it?

Should I contact my financial aid advisors? I attend a private university and would like to be able to continue going here but my financial situation may mandate otherwise.

Thank you!

You should contact your financial aid office and see what they say. Did you receive substantial aid from them last year…enough to cover all but the $2000 of your EFC?

Yes…I would suggest making an appointment with your financial aid folks at Elon to see what they can do, if anything, for you.

Aren’t students supposed to submit CSS every year (for CSS schools)?

Actually some schools only require the Profile freshman year. DS’s school required it for incoming freshmen but not for returning students UNLESS your financial situation changed significantly. We submitted it when DS was a senior in college because his sister entered college that year too…and his family contribution was halved. It didn’t net us much because his school doesn’t meet full need.
