Change Lender for Stafford Loan in 2nd year

First year, it was CITIBANK.
For second year, it is CITIBANK when the loan was accepted.
Want to change to Discover.
Is it possible? How to do this?

It’s best to stick to one lender for avoid confusion and it makes it easier in the future for payments and things that will most likely get into a mess to not become a mess.

I think to change lenders, you contact Discover or call UCSD? I’m not sure, just making assumption. You can google it, if you haven’t.

Just a little tidbit… Citibank was my lender for my Stafford Loan my first year, too, and when I called this summer to ask some questions, I was told they were not my lender anymore. After being transferred to the Department of Education and asking them what happened, they let me know: the Department of Education will now be taking care of the majority of student loans, with all these government bailouts that have occurred. This might not apply for every Stafford Loan, I believe.

Anyway, ksg, I hope you’re settled already.

It’s possible to change, but it will take about month to make the change. I changed lenders from first to second year.
You have to see the financial aid office to make the change.
