I committed to UMich last week and so when I went to register for orientation, I saw that there were only end-of-July dates available, and so I registered to one of them. However, recently I talked to another rising UMich student who registered yesterday for Orientation, and he said that he was able to register for dates in late June, much earlier than mine.
I would like for my orientation to be earlier, but am confused as to why I wasn’t able to register for an earlier date but the other person was. We are both in the same Advising Group.
So is it possible for me to change my orientation date? What should I do?
Probably because a space opened up between the time you signed up and the other person signed up. The cap is at 105 students per orientation date (at least for LSA students). There’s good reason for it as orientation is run in a very organized fashion in how they split up the kids between between orientation leaders, peer advisors, and senior advisors. You can always call/email the people that run orientation to see if a space is available on another date but I highly doubt they are going to allow more than the 105 cap that they already have.
